Although vacuum sealing is the best way to preserve the quality of our caviar, the tins can occasionally be tricky to open. We recommend using a short-handled flathead screwdriver. We sell these in our shop, or you can pick one up at your local hardware store. They work better (and are less expensive) than fancy “caviar keys.” The trick to opening the tin with ease is to first break the vacuum seal before trying to remove the lid. This can be done by inserting the flathead under the lid rim and giving a firm twist. This will slightly bend the edge of the lid outward. Once the seal is broken, you can then pry or pop the lid off. If the seal isn’t broken on the first try, simply give it another hard twist. Sometimes, it takes a couple tries.
